Rosie and Carl wanted a relaxed, summer outdoor wedding with lots of little personal touches. Escape room style favours and a late night samba band to name just a few!
We chose to get married in the summer because we wanted an outdoor ceremony and we knew that we wanted to have some outdoor lawn games as part of our reception.
The grounds at Glenfall are so beautiful and we were keen to use them as much as possible. We tried to choose a date with a higher chance of sunny weather!
We had 'pork three ways' for the starter which was absolutely delicious and a yummy chicken main. Our dessert was a large selection of cakes which were made by myself and some guests.
The evening reception was really fun. We spent a while out on the lawn playing games like cornhole before venturing inside for lots of dancing (and optional board games for those who didn't want to dance).
Later, as it was turning dark, everyone was ushered outside with confused faces as they tried to guess what was happening. Then the samba band started to play their way around the house and onto the lawn where everyone joined in dancing (and a few joined in with the drumming!).
We designed an 'escape the room' style puzzle for guests to crack in order to get their favours. They had to work as table teams and find and solve clues to get the padlock code.
We had a string quartet for the ceremony and post-ceremony drinks who played covers of all of our favourite pop, rock and soul songs. We also had one our best friends perform the song for our first dance and there was a samba band later in the evening.
For months before the wedding I had a group of dedicated friends who helped to make the paper flower bouquets and table decorations.
The best thing about my day was seeing everything come together and all of our personal touches really payed off. We were worried that some of our less conventional ideas might fall flat but everyone really enjoyed themselves and the day was perfect for the two of us! I don't think either of us stopped smiling.
Try to not get too stressed out over the smallest of details!
Talk to the staff at Glenfall House if there's anything you need or are concerned about as they were amazing at helping me find suppliers and organise the logistics of the day.
