Hilary & Andy got married with us recently in May, getting to enjoy our beautiful wisteria at its very best! We weren't confident the weather was going to play fair but we sat tight with the special thanks to Gloucestershire Registrars and we were able to host their dream day outside under the beautiful purple blooms. What a gorgeous day it was!
We chose May 19th as it was the same date we had our engagement party the year before and because the wisteria would be in bloom, the weather would be better and it was important that we had our wedding outside. I am a really keen gardener and love Glenfall's gardens.
We both just wanted a relaxed day and for our family and friends to have fun in a lovely place with good food, lots of booze and the grounds to mingle outside.
We didn't have a theme as such but we chose a turquoise/teal colour theme as that's my favourite colour and mixed this with cream and real/silk hydrangeas.
Why Choose Glenfall House
We chose Glenfall because of the gardens and the fact we could get married outside. We had the whole venue and the location suited us, with the outlook across the fields at the back for photographs and plus it wasn't a common wedding venue (at the time!).
We loved the bridal suite and the balcony, the fact there was reasonably priced accommodation on site and the fact that Glenfall has lots of different rooms (lounge, bar etc) so if the older guests didn't want to be near the music they could go to another room.
We also loved the fact that Dianne was flexible about the food options and we didn't have to have a formal sit-down wedding breakfast. Our day was unique because - we chose a venue that catered for all our needs and was in our budget. We chose food that we liked and meant something to us. Andy is from Cornwall and wanted traditional Cornish pasties and we also wanted Mexican street food as we go on holiday there regularly.
Waking up in the cottage next door with my family and best friend, cooking brekkie, spending the morning together, walking around the grounds and getting ready!
Seeing all the guests from the bridal suite/balcony walk to the seats outside; I then realised the wedding would go ahead outside (after debating about the weather for so long that day!).
Walking (nearly running) up the aisle to meet Andy and how very happy I felt at the time!
We have so many friends who live all over the country and the world and having them all join us was incredible.
My sister's lovely speech.
My nephew sewing on a button that fell off my dress at the last minute when the registrars were ready to meet me!
Enjoy the day as it goes so quickly!
Try not to worry about anything before or during the day - wedding planners at Glenfall with do all the worrying/planning for you.
I was so worried about decorating the venue - guests wouldn't have noticed whether we had or not!
Meet evening guests at the door so at least you have spoken to them and they don't have to find you.
Try and get 5 minutes on your own with your new husband/wife during the day.
Wear comfy shoes and underwear!
